Mission

Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS), founded on 22 May 2017, is an independent human rights organization operating in Sindh, Pakistan, dedicated to defending victims of enforced disappearances, promoting fundamental freedoms, and advancing justice, accountability, and the rule of law through peaceful, democratic, and lawful means.

VMPS was established in response to the increasing incidents of enforced disappearances, illegal detentions, and human rights violations targeting political workers, nationalist activists, students, intellectuals, and civil society members in Sindh. The organization is led by Mrs. Sorath Lohar, whose father, Hidayatullah Lohar, was abducted by Pakistani security forces in 2017, subjected to years of illegal detention, and later assassinated in a mysterious attack in 2024. His case symbolizes the suffering, uncertainty, and trauma faced by countless Sindhi families affected by enforced disappearances.

VMPS upholds and promotes the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) of 1948, the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance of 2006, and other internationally recognized human rights treaties, conventions, and norms. The organization works to expose human rights violations, challenge impunity, and support victims and families affected by state-led or state-condoned enforced disappearances.

Through continuous peaceful struggle, VMPS organizes protests, hunger strike camps, long marches, public awareness campaigns, conferences, seminars, and advocacy initiatives at local, national, and international levels. The organization has maintained ongoing protests at Karachi Press Club, organized hundreds of hunger strikes across cities including Karachi, Islamabad, and Larkana, and led historic long marches from Hyderabad to Karachi to demand justice and accountability.

VMPS represents the collective voice and aspirations of millions of Sindhis seeking justice, peace, human dignity, and constitutional rights, while standing in solidarity with all victims of enforced disappearances throughout the world.
